PARISH POLICY REGARDING WEDDING CEREMONIES

CONGRATULATIONS!

We congratulate you on your forthcoming Marriage and for choosing our Parish for your Wedding.  We hope that the following information will help you plan and ensure that your day is all that you dreamed it to be.

BOOKINGS & TIMES FOR YOUR WEDDING

It is Archdiocesan policy that couples give six (6) months notice before the proposed Wedding.  You may celebrate your Marriage on any day of the week. Saturday is the most popular. The latest time for a Wedding is 3.30pm so that the Church is available, for Parish use, by 5.00pm.

DOCUMENTS

You will need to complete both Government and Church papers before your Marriage.  According to Civil and Church Law, you must provide copies of your Birth Certificates (from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages) and your Baptismal Certificates (from the Parish Church where you were Baptised).

MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Again, it is Archdiocesan policy that couples must participate in some form of Marriage Preparation.  We will explain this to you and offer suggestions about the preparation that best suits your needs.

THE CEREMONY

The Wedding Ceremony is a formal occasion where you declare your love and exchange your vows before the Church.  The Ceremony includes Scripture, Prayers, Blessings and Songs.  We will help you prepare your Wedding Ceremony so that it respects the richness of our Roman Catholic Tradition.

THE MUSIC FOR THE CEREMONY

The music chosen must be appropriate for the Sacredness of the occasion.  Please contact Mrs Helen Schmidt, our Music Coordinator, on (07) 4128 1250, who will help you choose the appropriate music that is acceptable in our Church.

THE REHEARSAL

A rehearsal is always helpful.  It allows you and your Wedding Party to become familiar with the Ceremony and the Church.  It is important that we complete all Ceremony details before the rehearsal.

OTHER INFORMATION

Church Fees

The Church Fees for our Parish is $250.  We ask that a deposit of $100, be paid at the time of booking, with the remainder of the fee paid by seven days before the Wedding. The fee includes the costs for Administration, Church, Celebrant and Musician.  Normally, if you cancel your booking the Parish will deduct $50 from your deposit.  If you experience any financial problems, then please discuss this with us.

Church Flowers

It is Parish Policy that you organise all Church Flower Arrangements through the Parish.  For more information on this, contact the Parish Centre on (07) 4124 3334.

Church Photographs and Videos

Experienced professional photographers and video operators work unnoticed during the Ceremony. Unprofessional photographers can be very distracting to everyone concerned. Therefore, the Parish permits only authorised photographers and video operators to take photographs and videos during the Ceremony.  Please advise your family and friends of our Policy.  If you wish to have your Ceremony videoed, the video operator is to use a tripod at one set position during the Ceremony. Please ask the photographer and video operator to contact the Celebrant before the Ceremony.

Confetti and Rice

Please advise your family and friends that they must not use confetti and rice in or around the Church or Church grounds.

Copyright Laws

There are strict copyright laws concerning materials printed and used in our Parish.  Please contact our Parish Centre on (07) 4124 3334 before printing any material.

Other Inquiries

If you have any other inquiries, then  please telephone the Parish Centre (07) 4124 3334.
